Hi Marlene,
I want to do a fashion show to raise money to help animals, or children, or my community, but I don’t have the money to buy clothes and it is still being decided, plus I don’t know if any one of my friends will want to it..It still hasn’t been decided but I want to do it. What should I do?
What a great idea! Here are a few tips to get you started:
1. Find the organization that you want to help. You can pick a large one like PETA or a small animal shelter in your neighborhood. Or Big Brothers Big Sisters or kids who are sick in your local hospital. What you decide is up to you. When you find one you like, contact them and let them know your plans to do a fashion show. They may be willing to donate, time, money or even promotional materials to help out with your show.
2. Find a place to host the show. Your local YMCA, your school’s auditorium or you can find a local retailer who may be willing to let you use their space!
3. Apply for a grant with DoSomething.Org. They give out grants to teens and tweens to start projects in their communities. In the meantime. Ask for donations from family and friends. Tell them that a portion will go to charity and the other to the shows planning.
4. Find the clothes! Ask local retailers or you can even go to the thrift store to save on costs and put together your own outfits. One bag could cost you less than $20!
