Dear Marlene,

I always see models who have the coolest clothes. They always dress nice and sometimes I feel like my clothes aren’t as nice or cool. How can I stay in style and create a new look?

Have you ever wondered why models look so amazing in fashion magazines? Well, it’s easy for them. They are surrounded by a team of professionals who create their look, from their carefully blown-out hair to their perfectly pedicured toes. There’s one person to apply the make-up, one for hair, and there’s even someone to pick out the clothes! You can look just as amazing without relying on a an entourage of assistants. You are special–with a style that’s all your own.  It’s not about fitting in but rocking your own style that fits you best.

One day pull out all over your favorite clothes. Keep those separate. Then, get out the things that are so/so in your book and put them in a pile. Finally, get all the things you don’t like. Go through that pile and give away what you really don’t like anymore and then keep a few that you can integrate with the pile that’s so/so. You never know you may create a new look that you love. Have a try-on session in the mirror and make your own runway!

Once you find things that you like, you have created your own style! Wear it proudly!
