Lots of people argue about what makes up the news and how and by whom it should be reported. Here at JAM we want to hear YOUR news. What have you been reading? What have you been seeing? What do you really care about?

You can be a reporter at the Jam-Report. Share stories, photos and your comments on the headlines which are most important to you. Write an article about the latest goings on in your neighborhood, your classroom or just something funny that happened on the way to piano lessons. Let’s start jamming; we know you have lots to say!!

Hi from Australia!

Hey JAM girls! As some of you already know, I live in Sydney, Australia. The seasons here are different (at moment I'm just recently back from summer vacation), we speak funny, and just to clear things up only the COOL kids ride kangaroos to school. I go to a school where there are many different buildings and gardens that make up my school, it's very different to my old school in New York, and everyone has to wear a school uniform. My uniform is pretty ugly, its this gross long dress dress and a floppy hat. The dress makes everyone look like they're wearing a sack. We also have clompy old black school shoes with white socks. My school has about 800 students, all girls, and there is also a boarding school attached, where about 100 girls live at, some of the girls travel all the way from towns with funny sounding names on the other side of the country to come to boarding school in Sydney. I live just around the corner so I walk to school each morning. Sydney has about 22 million people currently, we have beautiful beaches, national parks, lakes and old houses dating very far back. The weather is mostly always lovely, even in winter its not that cold. I think if i was a tourist I'd love to visit Sydney :) I hope you have learnt something about my country from this, and until next time G'Day Mate! Xoxox

My Experience at F.I.T.

This past summer I took courses at the F.I.T pre-college program, to learn about jewelry and basic drawing. It was a life changing experience that taught me a lot.

In my jewelry course I learned A LOT, like how to make earrings, necklaces, bangles, and bracelets - let’s just say the works. I have definitely used this experience to my advantage. With this experience from F.I.T I have started my own business called 96 Jewelry. From what I have learned at F.I.T. I would like to continue selling and hopefully teach classes one day at F.I.T.

In my basic drawing classes I learned techniques that I have never even done before. I loved working with all of the unique tools. Working with the large amount of material given to me made me feel like I was given a great opportunity to show my drawing talent.

I enjoyed my experience there and it taught me that when you try hard you go far.

BFF

Hey Jam Girls,
I hope you all had a fantastic start to 2010! Since it’s the New Year, people have new attitudes including you and your friends. Is your friend acting Hot and Cold? All you can do is try to understand what is going on. If you have an inside joke you both made up and on the first day of school you say it; you would expect her to laugh about it, but, instead she says it’s not funny anymore in front of all your friends. You probably feel embarrassed about it and that is totally normal. That can be one of your first clues; it can be very mean and hurtful. The Internet is a whole other way of communicating and it takes everything to the top and escalates your problem to the highest of heights. You need to be careful how you communicate online. You may read some upsetting things. The next day your friend is suddenly being nice to you and you are getting a mixed signal. What should you do? You should talk to an adult that you trust and figure out your game plan. The lesson I learned is this: You really only have a couple of good friends that you can trust to be there through thick and thin. Talk to you soon! Xoxo, Molly
