What is the Pantone 2017 Color of the Year and why do we care?

I love Fashion Week in New York. Twice a year, everyone who’s anyone in the fashion world pulls out their very best outfits, it-bags and sunglasses-of-the-moment and gathers to check out the hottest new items for next season. It’s totally impossible trying to get a cab and finding time for all the shows and after-parties. But all the drama fades away on first glance of the amazing clothes coming down the runway.

Of course the clothes don’t walk themselves. Models bring style to life and are a vital part of Fashion Week. They come from all over the world to be in the shows. Doing the “Shows” is such a sought after job, models will forsake getting paid, working just the designer look for their portfolio. I have not yet started to think about which models I will see on the runway, I am thinking about the colors!

Have you ever noticed there seems to be an “in” color from one season to the next – well it is no accident? Pantone, the gold standard for color formations names the “Color of the Year” and this year it is GREENERY, Pantone number 15-0343 as they would say in the biz. Pantone announced yellow-based green as the color of the year for the art directors in fashion, beauty, home décor and many more. I just love the nail polish – right on trend. They also create a palate of colors all work together. Do these colors work for you? I will write about the conventional wisdom of which colors go best with which completions, eye color and hair color in MY BLOG. Stay posted.
